Welcome, I am AmSala Creative, a.k.a. Amanda Salazar. I am a designer, artist and illustrator living and working just outside the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado. Originally I opened Nine Ten Creative in 2005 as a place to showcase my freelance design portfolio while also working as a graphic designer for an advertising agency. I have since decided to make my freelance business full time and as a result a change in focus as well as the business name was needed. In 2013 AmSala Creative was born.
The name AmSala started as a mash-up of my first and last names. Upon research I discovered its origins are in Old High German and means 'blackbird.' My family heritage has Germanic roots and I felt it fitting to capture that with the business name. Not only do Blackbirds (crows/ravens) fascinate me they are also known for their creativity and intelligence. A great mark for a creative design company.
The Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (RMCAD), currently located in Lakewood, Colorado is where I earned my BFA in graphic design and multimedia. I have acquired over 17 years of design experience creating work for individuals and small- to medium-sized businesses. Throughout my career I've had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects with just as many varied clients.
I'm always pursing personal art explorations where I work in a mix of mediums such as pencil and digital illustrations, photography, and when available, clay. Recently I began painting with acrylics. You can find artwork available to purchase through my shop: AmSala on Etsy
